Job Title: Farm Labourer

We are seeking a Farm Labourer to join our team at Alternative Med Farm Health Services.

Job Summary

The Farm Labourer will be responsible for performing various tasks related to crop farming, including applying fertilizers, hoeing, cleaning crops, and maintaining the work site environment.

Responsibilities
  • Apply fertilizers and monitor crop growth and development
  • Hoe between rows and maintain vine canopy and grapes
  • Clean crops and pack fruits and vegetables
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas
  • Clear fields of wood and stones and maintain the work site environment
  • Perform hand harvesting, seeding, and weeding tasks
  • Monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns and maintain animal health
Requirements
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment and participate in government or community programs
  • Ability to recruit and mentor newcomers and refugees
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and refugees
  • Recruits newcomers and refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment
Support for Youth, Veterans, Indigenous People, Visible Minorities, and Mature Workers
  • Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment, Veterans, Indigenous people, visible minorities, and mature workers
