As a Senior Financial Controller at Royal Bank of Canada, you will be responsible for directing all aspects of finance, accounting, and risk management functions for the organization. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong analytical and financial reporting skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the accounting implications of new products and initiatives to enable business partners to make sound decisions.
  • Reviewing monthly actual results and variance analysis, as well as quarterly financial disclosures and related variance analysis.
  • Assessing financial risk and establishing proper infrastructure and processes to ensure financial results are reported completely and accurately and risks are adequately managed.
  • Performing timely Balance Sheet reconciliations and attestations, including review of Standard of Documentation (SODs), and performing and updating SOX controls, working with both internal and external auditors.
  • Assisting with data strategy projects and ad hoc initiatives to enhance the transparency and accuracy of the data.
  • Assisting in automation and streamlining of existing processes and implementation of new processes.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of working experience, ideally with an audit firm or financial institution.
  • CPA, CA, or equivalent.
  • Strong IFRS working knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of retail banking products or willingness and interest in developing that knowledge.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deliverables within a tight timeline.
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills.
  • Strong team building skills and work ethic.
