**Job Title:** Senior Financial Controller

**Job Summary:**

Newlands Group is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Controller to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to major projects and be part of a collaborative and innovative environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Manage all aspects of project accounting, including budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting for multiple residential development projects.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including project cost summaries, variance analyses, and cash flow forecasts. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure that all costs are captured and allocated correctly. Work closely with project managers to track project progress and identify potential cost overruns.
  • Perform month-end closing activities for projects, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of long-term forecasts and financial models to support strategic decision-making and project planning.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during project audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.
  • Ensure strong internal controls are maintained within the project accounting function. Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in project accounting within the real estate development or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, JD Edwards) and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with project management software is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting principles, budgeting, and financial analysis. Knowledge of the residential development industry in the GTA is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
