Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative teacher to join our team as an IB MYP Art Educator. The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator who can inspire and engage students while providing rigorous instruction in the visual arts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach IB MYP Art and Design courses to middle school students (Grades 6-12)
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that integrate technology and various teaching modalities
  • Support English Language Learners within a mainstream classroom
  • Design learning experiences that promote 21st-century skills and mastery of subject matter
  • Manage classrooms effectively, providing students with dignity and building self-esteem
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan lesson plans, units of instruction, and interdisciplinary assessments
  • Participate in school improvement initiatives and engage in professional growth
Requirements
  • Subject-related degree and B. Ed. preferred
  • BC teachers' license and legal ability to work in Canada without sponsorship
  • Experience teaching middle school and high school students, with a demonstrated ability to use technology effectively
  • Commitment to innovating and changing teaching practices in response to best-practices, students' needs, and educational research
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with high levels of emotional intelligence and emotional agility
Assets
  • Experience teaching in the IB MYP
  • Recent IB MYP Art & Design training
  • Familiarity with BC's curriculum
  • Experience living overseas or working in an internationally minded workplace
  • Coaching experience in areas such as sports, outdoor education, debate, or model United Nations
