Job Title: Youth and Family Counsellor, Mental Health Program
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Youth and Family Counsellor to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our Mental Health Program, you will work collaboratively with our interprofessional team to provide supportive counselling, psychosocial assessment, and group facilitation to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' emotional and behavioural presentation, and communicate this assessment to the primary nurse and interprofessional team.
- Support children and youth in lifespan development activities, and provide guidance in activities of daily living.
- Participate in patient care plan development, treatment strategies, and intervention development with the assigned primary nurse and interprofessional team.
- Establish and maintain a physically and emotionally safe therapeutic milieu, and assess and identify the need for intervention in crisis situations.
- Enhance the child and family's capacity for social skill development and community integration through group facilitation and activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
- Two years' recent related experience working in a child and youth setting.
- Valid Class 4 driver's license.
- Current CPR certification.
