Environmental Conservation Manager

The Nature Conservancy of Canada is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Program Director to lead our conservation efforts in Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective land conservation strategies to protect the region's natural features.
Key Responsibilities:- Conservation Strategy Development: Oversee land conservation programming to identify opportunities for land securement on private lands, assess resources required, and determine the case for conservation.
- Landowner Engagement: Guide staff and undertake landowner contact and negotiations for long-term protection of priority private lands in consultation with the Director of Conservation.
- Conservation Landscape Planning: Support the development and implementation of conservation landscape plans by working with a broad range of partners.
- Business Development and Fundraising: Work with development staff to cultivate meaningful supporter relationships with NCC and collaborate with staff to support fundraising from existing and new donors.
- Community and Partnership Liaison: Act as an ambassador and NCC spokesperson in Nova Scotia for external relations and communications to build awareness and support for the conservation programs of NCC and its partners.
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline, with in-depth knowledge of Atlantic Canadian and Nova Scotian ecosystems and species.
- Exemplary organization, planning, communication, and project management skills.
- Flexibility, reliability, self-motivation, and ability to work both independently and as a leader with two or more direct reports.
- A strong communicator, with an ability to explain complex topics in simple terms, and experience in negotiation is valuable.
- Entrepreneurial, with a strong ability to seek and implement new opportunities to advance conservation goals.
