About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Technical Services Manager to join our team at De Beers Group Canada. This is a site-based position working a 4 days on/3 days off rotation, based out of Yellowknife, NWT.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee the Geology, Long-Range Mine Engineering, Survey and Geotechnical Engineering requirements of the mine.
  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day support to ensure the safe and timely delivery of ore to the process plant.
  • Oversee all geological, geotechnical, and survey work on site, including the coordination of consultants.
  • Oversee and coordinate all long-range mine planning activities.
  • Oversee strategic planning and forecasting to ensure that the ore body is mined to maximize NPV and business objectives.
  • Oversee engineering, maintenance, surveillance and environmental commitments of mine dykes.
  • Maintain ultimate responsibility for the technical services budget and reporting.
  • Map out career and professional development plans for technical professions.
  • Oversee recruitment and retention of professional and technical staff for department.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Mine or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • ~10-15 years of technical mining experience.
  • ~ Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with various audiences.
  • ~ Ability to present to a variety of groups, both technical and non-technical.
  • ~ Highly effective organizational, time management and analytical skills.
  • ~ Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.
  • ~ Knowledge of several of the following areas will be an asset:
    • Mine planning, budgeting and capital planning and growth processes.
    • Geology and environmental requirements of mining.
    • Geotechnical and hydrogeological aspects of open-pit mining.
    • Mine surveying techniques.
    • Surface hydrology and water balance modeling.
