Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Director to lead the financial management of the Health and Social Services System. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies to ensure the sustainability of the system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial plans and budgets to ensure the effective management of resources.
  • Lead the development of financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to senior management and departmental staff.
  • Manage and oversee the financial operations of the Health and Social Services System, including financial reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, health authorities, and other external partners.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a university degree in a related field, such as business, commerce, or finance, and a recognized professional accounting designation, such as CGA, CMA, or CA. They will also have at least 5 years of directly related work experience, including at least 4 years at a managerial level in a complex organization. Experience in a public service environment is an asset.
