About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Transfer Driver to join our team at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes. As a Transfer Driver, you will play a vital role in assisting families during their time of loss by providing compassionate and respectful care to those who have passed away.

Key Responsibilities
  • Properly receive and transfer decedents from their place of death to our care facility with dignity and respect.
  • Care for decedents, prepare them for transfer, and transport them to safekeeping at our private facility using a stretcher.
  • Deliver caskets or urns to the place of service, ensuring a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Drive in and around Calgary and surrounding areas in a professional manner, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Set up for identification viewings or visitations, and deliver important documents to our funeral home locations.
  • Assist with funeral services as required, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Professional, kind, and caring demeanor.
  • Current Class 5 (non-GDL) driver's license with a driver's abstract showing six or less demerits.
  • Clean driving record and insured for a minimum of three years.
  • Previous three years of claims experience, with a letter or statement from your insurance provider.
  • Ability to work with the deceased and their grieving families, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
  • Physical ability to undertake the demands of the position, including bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 75 kg and move a casket.
  • Flexible working schedule, including weekends, 12-hour shifts, day and night shifts, and public holidays.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and honesty.
  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment, with strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, MS Planner, and Google Docs.
  • Knowledge of iPhone use and ability to maintain professional grooming standards.
  • Strong customer service skills and sensitivity to cultural practices.
  • A clear background check (Security Clearance) and availability to work all shifts as scheduled.
