Job Title: Project Engineer - Mining/Remediation

Job Summary:

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructure team. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing projects from design to close-out, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructability inputs.
  • Responsible for planning, managing, and progressing work packages from design phase to close-out.
  • Develop internal budgetary estimates and schedules.
  • Develop scopes of work and tender packages, including pre-bid meetings and communication requirements.
  • Participate in bid evaluations and contract awarding.
  • Responsible for contractor onboarding, document submittals, and approvals for mobilization and construction execution.
  • Responsible for executing construction activities and contractor performance, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, budget, daily and weekly reporting, and quality of work.
  • Manage requests for information processes and flow.
  • Manage compliance to the change order process and procedures.
  • Maintain, track, and report on project deliverables.
  • Effectively communicate and lead with construction superintendents, inspectors, QA/QC coordinators, finance, procurement, document control, planning, scheduling, and estimators, as well as contractors.
  • Assist the Construction Manager in resolving issues related to cost, schedule, or quality variances.
  • Assist the Mine Manager, H&S Manager, and Environmental Manager in ensuring HS&E awareness and compliance by all subcontractors.
  • Prepare monthly reports on work package progress, including schedule and budget compliance assessments, for delivery to the Construction Manager and Senior Project Manager.

Requirements:

  • A degree or technology diploma in Engineering, Geology, or a directly related technical field; significant experience in lieu of a degree/diploma will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, construction management, specifically in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in contract bidding and award processes, managing projects in the execution phase, and managing project closeout.
  • 3+ years of work experience in heavy civil, northern mining, or remediation projects.
  • 3+ years of experience working in Northern Canada is an asset.
  • Knowledgeable of industry practices and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of current technologies and how they can be effectively utilized on projects.
  • Professional designation (or the ability to obtain one) as a professional geologist, engineer, CET, with a PMP designation being preferable.
  • Experience managing on-site activities of multiple subcontractors.
  • Experience addressing and resolving issues such as poor performance by subcontractors.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate members of a team.
