Job Title: Automation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team at Affinity Search. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation technologies for chemistry workflows within self-driving labs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new automation technologies and systems for chemistry workflows
  • Optimize robustness and flexibility of custom or commercially available hardware and software modules
  • Collaborate with chemists and process engineers to integrate automation solutions into experimental workflows
  • Create and implement experimental protocols for testing new automation technologies
  • Oversee the integration of automation systems with existing laboratory equipment and processes
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade automation platforms
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Automation Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, etc.)
  • Masters or doctoral degree in a relevant discipline
  • 4 years of demonstrated work experience or a combination of educational and work experience in designing, developing, and implementing automation technologies
  • Experience with Python and interfacing with APIs and code debugging
  • Comfortable working with and debugging electronics and lab equipment
  • Experience with parametric CAD software like SolidWorks and Fusion 360
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and executed automated chemistry workflows
  • Experience with various UPLC/HPLC instruments, Chromatography Data Systems, vendors and applications
Why Join Our Team:

We offer a competitive salary range of CAD$ 85,000 - 110,000, eligibility for our extended health benefits programs, and 15 days of vacation per calendar year, prorated for the first year based on hiring date. 1 additional day each subsequent year of service, up to a maximum of 20 days.
