About the Role

The Domestic Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the domestic services within North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. This includes managing a team of domestic staff, ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the hospital environment, and maintaining high standards of service delivery.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the domestic staff team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance monitoring.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff to ensure high standards of cleaning and hygiene.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hospital areas to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
  • Address any deficiencies in service and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to procure necessary materials and services.
  • Ensure all cleaning practices comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in infection control meetings and implement recommended practices.
  • Maintain records of staff attendance, training, and performance.
  • Prepare reports on domestic services activities and present them to the Facilities Manager.
  • Respond to feedback and complaints from patients, visitors, and staff regarding cleanliness and maintenance issues.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Identify areas for improvement in domestic services and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Stay updated with the latest cleaning technologies and best practices.
  • Emergency Response: Coordinate and manage cleaning and hygiene efforts during emergency situations, such as outbreaks of infectious diseases.

  • Education
    • GCSE English and Maths
    • Certification or training in health and safety regulations relevant to cleaning and maintenance
  • Desirable
    • Additional qualifications in facilities management, hospitality, or a related field.
    • Higher-level certification in health and safety practices.
  • Skills
    • Ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a team
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks and manage workloads.
    • High attention to detail to ensure cleaning standards are consistently met.
  • Experience
    • Experience in a Supervisory Role: Proven experience in managing or supervising cleaning/domestic staff
    • Knowledge of Cleaning Procedures and Equipment: Understanding of various cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
    • Health and Safety Training: Certification or training in health and safety regulations relevant to cleaning and maintenance.
