Job Summary

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to support the delivery of the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT Project. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for conducting construction layout and engineering survey services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct topographic surveys, engineering surveys, and as-built surveys to ensure accurate data collection and quality control.
  • Oversee the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of conventional and GPS survey equipment.
  • Collaborate with project managers to execute field direction and ensure data collection and measurement downloading accuracy.
  • Develop and implement effective survey strategies to meet project requirements.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, and identify and rectify any hazards or unsafe working situations.
  • Participate in equipment maintenance, control, repair, and inventory management to ensure optimal survey operations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in surveys, with a minimum of 2 years in construction surveying.
  • Experience with robotic total stations, Windows-based data collectors, GNSS technology, and other data collection technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal engineering and land development projects, including sewer, water main, dirt survey, earthworks, and road construction materials, methods, and processes.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, preferably with a clean abstract.
  • Valid applicable safety tickets (Confined Space, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift) an asset.
