Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to provide educational support to students with diverse needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to create a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, including toileting, personal care, and seizure management.
  • Assist with behavior management and implement strategies to promote positive behavior.
  • Support students with Down's Syndrome and Autism, and provide a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform light lifting tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform medium lifting tasks.
  • Experience working with students with special needs, particularly Down's Syndrome and Autism.
  • Related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement.

Rate of Pay:

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar. The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay. Rates are based on a five-step scale with step increases occurring annually in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Daily Hours of Work:

50% Position = 3.5 hours (includes one 15-minute paid break).

80% Position = 6.1 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks).

100% Position = 7.5 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks).
