Job Summary

The Assistant District Manager plays a key role in supporting the District Manager in managing operations and driving business growth. This is a hands-on position that requires strong leadership and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the District Manager to develop and implement operational strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Monitor local market conditions and competitive pricing to ensure optimal financial performance.
  • Develop and implement safety programs and incentives to promote a culture of safety.
  • Provide training, coaching, and goal setting for employees to optimize their performance.
  • Support recruitment and retention initiatives to minimize turnover.
  • Ensure compliance with company practices, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor deferrals, customer feedback, and service levels to optimize customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in the sale of large volumes of products and develop tenders to drive revenue growth.
  • Assist the District Manager in negotiating or directing negotiations on disposal and transportation costs.
  • Build relationships and liaise with key partners in city government to promote the company's interests.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-8 years' experience in an operations and/or sales management position.
  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in business or commerce.
  • Excellent planning, strategic, and analytical skills, financial literacy essential.
  • Highly developed leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of achieving business plan objectives.
  • Possession of a commercial driver's license is an asset (Class 3, 2 or 1).
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended sitting position.
  • Light physical effort.
  • Work performed in an office environment.
  • May involve periodic walking during the work day.
  • Flexible hours (may start at 4:00 am).
