About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Land Rights Acquisition Lead to join our Rail & Transit team in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or Montreal office. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for leading the land acquisition process for a large rail capital infrastructure project. This includes preparing and implementing a Lands Management Plan, negotiating land agreements with various stakeholders, and managing sub-consultants.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team responsible for supporting clients with the acquisition of property for large rail capital infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and implement Lands Management Plans to identify and acquire lands required for the project, minimizing financial, environmental, and reputational risks.
  • Negotiate land agreements with Indigenous communities, provinces, municipalities, private companies, and private landowners.
  • Manage property valuations exercises and prepare documents to support project cost estimation.
Requirements
  • A university or college degree with appropriate commensurate experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the land acquisition process of at least 3 high-value ($1 billion plus) capital infrastructure projects within the last 10 years.
  • Knowledge of project management processes, including meeting cost and schedule requirements.
  • Experience with real estate acquisition and negotiation skills.
About You

We value candidates with strong leadership and management skills, ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, and adapt well to changes in direction and priorities. Experience in consulting engineering and property acquisition on transit or transportation projects with CN Rail, CP Rail, and/or MTO (Ministry of Transportation Ontario), Metrolinx, TTC (Toronto Transit Commission), or their Quebec equivalents is an asset.
