Job Summary

The Resource Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the timely adoption of course materials and resources throughout the course lifecycle. This position will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing supply and demand of educational resources, forecasting stock depletion, and defining ordering criteria to coordinate availability of resources with course development timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze supply and demand of educational resources, forecast stock depletion, and define ordering criteria to coordinate availability of resources with course development timelines.
  • Prepare inventory reports for internal stakeholders, including resource specifications, quantity, quality, costs, and delivery dates.
  • Liaise with publishers to obtain desk copies and anticipate release of new textbook editions.
  • Set up and manage student access to publisher online resources; troubleshoot and resolve access issues.
  • Liaise with the Curriculum Support Associates and Open Learning Book Buyer to ensure timely adoption of course materials and resources throughout the course lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the work of the Open Learning Book Buyer.
  • Negotiate agreements for custom texts, reprints, e-books, and other resource options.
  • Report obsolete or surplus materials to determine returns and write-offs.
  • Facilitate the year-end inventory count process.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12, plus two-year Business Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years' related experience in a retail/inventory control environment, including two years in a computerized inventory management environment.
  • Excellent communication with a variety of stakeholders in person and at a distance.
  • Interaction with print and online educational resources.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving, preferably in the context of managing print and online educational resources.

Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities Related to the Job

  • Familiarity with current trends in educational resource materials; knowledge of online publisher platforms such as MyLab, REVEL, Connect, MindTap.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to problem-solve and exercise independent judgment.
  • Proficient knowledge of electronic data entry, word processing operations, and spreadsheets, with efficient speed and accuracy.
