About the Role

CarePartners is seeking a skilled Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence (NSWOC) to join our team in the Tillsonburg area. As a NSWOC, you will provide wound and ostomy consultation for patients in the clinic and community.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys caring for a broad range of clients with various wound etiologies and wound care modalities. You will utilize your expertise in promoting self-management by patients and leading the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide wound and ostomy consultation for patients in the clinic and community
  • Use your knowledge of assessment, prevention, and interventions regarding wound infections and ostomy care
  • Care for patients with consuming wounds, ostomy, continence, and provide lower leg assessment including ABPIs
  • Critically appraise the wound care literature and apply research evidence to practice
  • Provide classifications and indications, appropriate utilization to reduce visit frequency and obtain desired outcomes
  • Practice conservative sharp wound debridement (CSWD) and use of other debridement methods
  • Provide edema management including bandaging based on complete lower leg assessment
  • Monitor criteria for adjunctive therapy for complex or recalcitrant wounds
  • Support patient safety by practicing according to policy and standards
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) diploma
  • Current College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registration in good standing
  • Graduate of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada (NSWOCC, formerly CAET), CNA exam may be pending
  • Several years of escalating experience managing wounds and ostomies
  • A strong desire and commitment to making a difference in the lives of our patients
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle as regular travel is required
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • CPR Certification
  • Current immunization record including 2 step TB test
  • To protect our patients, we require a current vulnerable sector check and a clear background check
