We are seeking an extraordinary Oncology Veterinary Technician to join our team at BluePearl Pet Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical exams and accurately count vital signs.
  • Understand normal vital and lab parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
  • Perform phlebotomy and place peripheral intravenous catheters.
  • Calculate basic medical math and set up materials for chemotherapy administration.
  • Safely dispense and administer oral and SC/IM chemotherapy agents.
  • Check chemotherapy agent calculations and dosages.
  • Properly shave and wrap for IV catheters and have knowledge of chemotherapy extravasation.
  • Admit and discharge Oncology patients, including client education.
  • Maintain a solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations.
  • Address client concerns and answer questions during visits, updates, or after hospitalization.
  • Have knowledge of tumor types and diagnostic work-up protocols.
  • Assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications and remain current on CPR guidelines.
  • Maintain hospital operations, including stocking and cleaning.
