About the Opportunity

The Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Israeli Studies. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. The successful candidate is also eligible to be named the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Chair in Israeli Studies for a four-year term, with the possibility of renewal following a favourable review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pursue innovative and independent research in areas pertaining to the study of Israel.
  • Establish an outstanding, competitive research program.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the study of Israel.
  • Contribute to the Faculty of Arts & Science's undergraduate and graduate education.

Requirements

  • PhD in any social science discipline or related fields.
  • Research and teaching portfolio with a substantial focus on modern Israel and a scholarly connection to the field of Jewish Studies broadly defined.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
