Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in a licensed care mental health setting. The successful candidate will provide nursing care to meet the needs of clients, working within the competency guidelines and standards of practice outlined by the College of LPNs of BC and current legislative scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet the needs of clients, adhering to established standards of practice and current legislative scope of practice;
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team, providing clinical input in the development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of client care plans, attending care plan meetings and modifying care plans under the supervision and direction of the RN/RPN;
- Reporting and Compliance: Report to and follow the directives of the Provider, the RN/RPN, and the DOLCO, ensuring compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards, including those set out by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM);
- Medication Administration: Administer medication to residents and provide medication reminders, in accordance with regulatory body requirements and organizational policies and procedures;
- Daily Living Assistance: Encourage and assist clients in activities of daily living as required, such as bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting;
- Safety and Documentation: Monitor safety and report risks, near misses, incidents, accidents, and unsafe or hazardous conditions to the RN/RPN and the DOLCO, completing and maintaining all documentation according to established standards, regulations, policies, and procedures, ensuring confidentiality is maintained according to ICMH policy;
- Client Support: Provide support and feedback to clients and their families;
- Communication and Competence: Communicate effectively, maintain personal wellness to assure the effective provision of services to others, and assure competence through lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Requirements:
- Education and Licensure: Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses, current full practicing license with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) in good standing;
- Certifications and Training: Certificates in CPR and First Aid, preferred, Class 5 Driver's License, ASIST, Violence Prevention, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction an asset;
- Background Checks: Clear criminal record check through the Solicitor General (working with vulnerable adults), negative TB test, proof of compliance with the Province's standard immunizations.

Salary Range: $32.84-$41.35 (LPN Level 1, Year 1-10, recognition pay included)
