Salary

Job Description

: We seek a highly skilled and motivated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team. As an EA Interpreter, you will provide visual presentation of what is being said to students who are deaf or hard of hearing using various modes of communications such as cues, sign language, finger spelling, or oral interpretation and verbal communication from these students to others. Your primary goal will be to assist with the attainment of academic concepts and facilitate activities that contribute to school life experience. You must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week, with work available in four geographical regions: Western (Bowmanville/Courtice area), Southern (Port Hope/Cobourg area), Eastern (Brighton/Campbellford area), and Northern (Peterborough area).

Required Skills and Qualifications

: To be successful in this role, you will require a High school diploma or equivalent, Interpreter Training Diploma for Deaf Education, and one to three years of experience. Additionally, you must possess advanced level computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets, and have completed 200 hours of American Sign Language required before admission to the educational program. If selected for an interview, you will be requested to provide full contact information for two references, one of whom must be your current supervisor. A police records check with vulnerable sector search and/or a search of the Pardoned Sexual Offenders' Database, valid within six months from date of hire, is a condition of employment.
