Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel, Capital Markets to join our team. As a member of our legal department, you will play a key role in supporting the Capital Markets and Investor Services businesses on a wide range of legal matters related to securities finance and derivatives transactions.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience as a securities finance and/or derivatives lawyer in private practice or as in-house counsel. You should be eager to learn, comfortable managing competing priorities while working under tight deadlines, and possess excellent communication and drafting skills. Collaboration and strong business acumen are also essential for this role.

In this role, you will provide highly specialized legal services to Capital Markets and Investor Services business and functional partners on matters relating to securities lending, securities repurchase and reverse repurchase agreements, futures, and other derivatives transactions. You will also be responsible for policy work relating to the Bank's derivatives and securities finance activities.

To succeed in this position, you must have:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a securities finance and/or derivatives lawyer in private practice or as in-house counsel;
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills;
  • Collaborative and strong business acumen;
  • Eagerness to learn and comfort with managing competing priorities while working under tight deadlines.
