Job Title: Mental Health and Substance Use Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health and Substance Use Specialist to join our team at the Vernon Health Centre in Vernon, B.C.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work as a member of the Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) healthcare team, providing assessment, treatment, case management, and community support to individuals with severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of clients' conditions and determine their needs, including identifying early symptoms of relapse.
  • Provide comprehensive bio/psycho/social services, including a continuum of options designed to optimize clients' recovery and ability to function.
  • Provide highly involved case management, counseling, and other forms of direct service, and directly provide or assist clients to access services to deal with treatment and recovery issues.
  • Arrange access to specialized services, such as substance use, forensic/criminal justice, developmental disability, and acquired brain injury.
  • Document assessments, treatment formulations, care plans, and progress notes according to professional standards and established guidelines, policies, and procedures.
