Community Outreach Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Mental Health and Addictions department, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental and substance use disorders.
The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. This position will require strong navigation, advocacy, and coordination skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community organizations.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work, preferably with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of one year of clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions is required, as well as strong screening and risk assessment skills, including Suicide Risk Assessment.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care, and strong group facilitation skills. Motivational interviewing skills and the ability to engage with clients and families are also essential. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental and substance use disorders
- Work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations and agencies
- Provide navigation, advocacy, and coordination services to clients and families
- Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in Mental Health and Addictions
