Health Promotion Specialist

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Health Promotion Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Healthy Communities department, you will work collaboratively with the Regional Centre for Education and Public Health to address local population health needs and improve health outcomes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Healthy School Communities/Health Promoting Schools models and plans, fostering cooperation and collaboration with school communities and health personnel. A strong background in health promotion, comprehensive school health, community development, and knowledge of the school system are essential for this role.
The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Education, or a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience. A master's degree is preferred. The candidate should have recent experience in advocating for healthy public policies, initiating and establishing multi-sector partnerships, and gathering and analyzing information to identify public health issues.
The Health Promotion Specialist will work closely with our team to develop and implement evidence-informed strategies to promote healthy school communities and reduce health inequities. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting, and demonstrate a commitment to promoting a culture of respect and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of Healthy School Communities/Health Promoting Schools models and plans
- Foster cooperation and collaboration with school communities and health personnel
- Develop and implement evidence-informed strategies to promote healthy school communities and reduce health inequities
- Work closely with our team to develop and implement public health initiatives
Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Education, or a related field
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Master's degree preferred
- Recent experience in advocating for healthy public policies
- Initiating and establishing multi-sector partnerships
- Gathering and analyzing information to identify public health issues
