About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Flight Software Engineer to join our team at Sierra Space. As a key member of our Orbital Mission and Services (OMS) division, you will be responsible for designing and developing flight software for spacecraft missions, including civilian and DoD applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop flight software for spacecraft missions, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Analyze and evaluate satellite and constellation capabilities, mission concepts, and system requirements to inform software design decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of software tools and methodologies, including requirements tracking, code reviews, and static analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets customer needs and is delivered on time.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of embedded software development using C++ and experience with real-time operating systems (VxWorks preferred).
  • Familiarity with asymmetric and symmetric multiprocessing architectures and experience with software design patterns.
  • Ability to work in an Agile Scrum environment and contribute to the development of software tools and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with spacecraft flight software development and testing.
  • Knowledge of memory, timing, and throughput constraints in embedded systems and ability to create robust and sound designs.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software languages, such as Python.
  • Experience leading a team developing software and contributing to the development of software tools and methodologies.
