About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Flight Software Engineer to join our team at Sierra Space. As a key member of our Orbital Mission and Services division, you will be responsible for designing and developing flight software for spacecraft missions. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the successful execution of our small satellite programs, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop flight software for spacecraft missions, including mission payloads and electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and other stakeholders to define, design, develop, test, and certify software products.
  • Perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout the development process.
  • Develop and maintain software tools and scripts to support the development process.
  • Contribute to the development of software requirements, design documents, and test plans.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Embedded Flight Software Engineer who is passionate about developing innovative software solutions. You should have a strong background in embedded software development, including experience with C++ and real-time operating systems. Additionally, you should be familiar with Agile development methodologies and have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in embedded software development, including experience with C++ and real-time operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with spacecraft flight software development.
  • Knowledge of memory, timing, and throughput constraints in embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software languages, including Python.
  • Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build.

Working Conditions:

This position requires current/active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
