Job Description for Executive Chef at Norsemen Inn

 

The Norsemen Inn is seeking a highly skilled Executive Chef to lead our kitchen team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory control, and staff supervision.
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and safety.
  • Develop and implement seasonal menus that showcase local ingredients and flavors.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Recruit, train, anddevelop kitchen staff to ensure a high-performing team.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a similar environment.
  • Proven track record of menu development, inventory control, and staff management.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a focus on creativity, presentation, and flavor.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Standing for extended periods, with frequent movement around the kitchen.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with high levels of noise and activity.
  • Occasional lifting of heavy objects, with manual handling of equipment and ingredients.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Experience:

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
