About the Role:
The School District #61 (Greater Victoria) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cafeteria Assistant/School Meal Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Culinary Arts/Cook Training Teacher with the operation of the school cafeteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Ensure a clean and safe food service environment
- Provide excellent customer service to students and staff
- Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and implement menu items
- Maintain accurate records of food inventory and supplies
Requirements:
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Professional Cook Level 1 certification
- Food Safe I & II certification
- Serving it Right certification
- Valid BC driver's license
- One year of experience in the food and beverage industry
Working Conditions:
This is a temporary position working 20 hours per week as a Cafeteria Assistant and 11 hours per week as a School Meal Assistant. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
