Job Summary

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to join our team as a Regional Staff Pharmacist. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Distribution and Management

Responsible for the distribution of medications, including non-sterile and sterile compounding, in a variety of drug distribution models.

Order Triage and Verification

Triage orders to verify authenticity, completeness, and appropriateness, including dosage, route, frequency, incompatibilities, interactions, duplications, allergies, formulary compliance, automatic therapeutic substitution, and automatic stop.

Drug Information and Education

Provide drug information for patients and healthcare professionals, including educational programs, drug utilization reviews, and literature evaluation.

Clinical Decision Making

Monitor the clinical status and drug therapies of patients to determine appropriate clinical drug interventions for identified or anticipated medication-related problems.

Leadership and Supervision

Supervise and provide direction to pharmacy assistants, students, and interns, and verify the accuracy of tasks performed by them.

Policy Development and Implementation

Collaborate with the Director of Pharmacy/Manager of Pharmacy in formulating, implementing, and revising policies, procedures, manuals, and documents relating to the operation of Pharmacy Services.

Requirements
  • Education and Licensure

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or equivalent undergraduate pharmacy degree, and licensure as a pharmacist in the Province of Manitoba.

Experience and Certification

Previous experience in hospital pharmacy practice, and Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada Certification.

Skills and Qualifications

Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health. Demonstrated leadership and independent judgment, written and oral communication skills, strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population, and ability to respect and promote confidentiality.

Additional Requirements

This position is subject to a Criminal Records Check (including vulnerable sector), Adult Abuse Registry Check, and a Child Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any services charges incurred.
