Job Description:

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Coronary Care Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital. The unit is a 6-bed coronary care unit that cares for a variety of patients with cardiac conditions, including patients experiencing cardiac events such as acute coronary syndromes and cardiac arrhythmias.

Responsibilities:

* Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
* Conduct advanced assessments and document patient information
* Interpret arrhythmia and lead ECGs
* Administer high-alert medications and perform bedside procedures
* Monitor telemetry and care for patients who require or have received thrombolytic therapy
* Transport cardiac patients for inter-facility transfers
* Provide patient education on cardiac medications and pre/post procedure expectations

Requirements:

* Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* BScN (preferred)
* Completion of Level 2 Critical Care Certificate or equivalent from an accredited academic institution (preferred)
* Completion of Cardiology Nursing – level 3 course (required)
* Current/recent 1 - 2 years Adult Medical/Surgical experience
* Current BCLS certificate
* Current ACLS certificate (preferred)
* Sound knowledge base and demonstrated skill in advanced assessment, arrhythmia interpretation, defibrillation, temporary pacemakers, hemodynamic monitoring, high alert drug administration, lead ECG interpretation, and complex cardiac patient care
* Commitment to patient and family centered care, professional practice, personal development, shared leadership, and team based decision making
* Superior interpersonal and communication skills
* Proven ability to function independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
* Skilled at multi-tasking with excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills
* Demonstrated excellent work performance and attendance history
