Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Support Worker to join our team at Renfrew Care Centre. As a key member of our support services team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for our residents, tenants, and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform housekeeping duties and routines in all areas of the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, and staff areas.
  • Carry out general cleaning and sanitizing duties, including changing bed linen, making beds, and cleaning up.
  • Use equipment and chemicals to strip, clean, wax, and maintain floors of various materials.
  • Care for equipment, supplies, and work areas by ensuring equipment is kept clean and safely stored.
  • Perform and document required audits using communication tools.
  • Maintain inventory on individual carts.
  • Understand and demonstrate the use and application of cleaning chemicals.
  • Practice and maintain established standards for sanitation, facility cleanliness, safe work environment, and other areas required by regulatory bodies.
  • Perform laundry duties and routines, including laundering bed linens and labeling residents' linens as required.
  • Establish and maintain an atmosphere conducive to dignified living by creating an environment that maintains the happiness, self-respect, general dignity, and physical safety of each resident and tenant.
  • Promote and maintain positive communication and relationships among staff, residents, tenants, and the public.
  • Participate in department and facility meetings and educational in-services.
  • Participate in facility committees and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • WHIMIS Certificate required.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating tact, diplomacy, empathy, patience, and concern in providing quality service.
  • Physically able to perform tasks.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to take direction and learn procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required to perform the duties of the position.
