Job Title: Renovation Carpenter

We are seeking a skilled Renovation Carpenter to join our team at Ottawa Home Contractors Ltd. as a key member of our construction team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to renovation and construction, including measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and renovation, with experience in working at heights, confined spaces, and in noisy and dusty environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
  • Schedule and coordinate work on sites
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Supervise other workers
  • Prepare and install hardwood floors
  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
Requirements:
  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the field
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in noisy and dusty environments
  • Strong background in carpentry and renovation
  • Ability to supervise and instruct apprentices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
