About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Development Manager to lead our Finance Technology team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading teams of engineers to create world-class finance systems that support Amazon's global footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead teams of engineers to design, develop, and deploy finance systems
  • Ensure that engineering best practices are followed and that software is designed to be highly-available, dynamically scalable, and resilient to continuity threats
  • Own the goals and roadmap of the team, as well as the strategic direction of the software and the shape of the organization
  • Drive architectural and design choices, invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a scalable, service-oriented platform for our people
  • Partner with product and program management teams to deliver results and build great teams around themselves
Requirements
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Experience communicating with technical teams and senior management about product features and technical designs
  • Experience managing software development managers
  • Experience managing geographically distributed development teams
  • Track record of leading global technology implementation efforts and deployments
  • Experience working with third-party platforms and integration at scale
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Track record of influencing software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience in finance, accounting, tax, or payments domains
  • Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $171,400/year up to $286,200/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
