Staff Accountant Job Description

Naylor Building Partnerships Inc. is a leading organization seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to contribute to our team in Oakville.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Perform various month-end tasks, including preparing financial reports, and provide support to the external auditors.
  3. Reconcile daily bank and credit card statements, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  4. Post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and other ongoing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records.
  5. Assist in the preparation of weekly cash flow forecasts and daily bank balance reports, providing valuable insights to the management team.
  6. Reconcile various balance sheets and control accounts to subledger on a monthly basis, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
  7. Reconcile and update intercompany accounts, maintaining a clear and transparent financial picture.
  8. Assist in year-end preparations for all companies, providing support to the external auditors and ensuring a smooth financial close.
  9. Coordinate government remittances for all companies, including EHT, HST, WSIB, and corporate taxes, and maintain a schedule of payments.
  10. Maintain records and expenses for fleet vehicles, including new vehicle purchases, leases, accidents, gas card accounts, and coordinate yearly vehicle license renewals.
  11. Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as required, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Education/Experience:

  1. University degree or college diploma with a focus in Accounting or a related field.
  2. 1-3 years of related accounting experience is considered an asset.
  3. CPA PEP Program is highly valued.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office and various accounting software programs is required.
  6. Ability to multitask in a busy office environment is crucial.
