About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, supporting, and delivering competency-based interprofessional educational curriculum in partnership with curriculum leads.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Medical Laboratory Technology, with experience in Transfusion Science or Chemistry. They will also possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for assessing, implementing, planning, evaluating, and supporting the application of existing and new clinical knowledge. They will also be responsible for translating knowledge to practice, with a focus on advancing practice and improving health outcomes for patients, families, and communities.

The successful candidate will be a registered health professional with a strong commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. They will also be able to recognize abnormal situations and respond appropriately, with a strong understanding of Cerner LIS and experience with Blood Collection.

About You
  • Graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Three years' related experience in Transfusion Science or Chemistry
  • Current registration with CSMLS and NSCMLT
  • Experience in all five disciplines of MLT role
  • Certification in Simulation Specialist or Simulation Educator programs an asset
  • Leadership Development Education an asset
  • Adult Education Program an asset
  • Simulation Education Program an asset
  • Strong customer service skills; leadership skills; excellent organization and technical skills; as well as good decision-making skills
  • Experience with Microsoft office Excel an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
