About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in conducting diagnostic analytical laboratory tests and procedures to ensure accurate and timely results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine team to ensure seamless laboratory operations.
  • Ensure that laboratory services are delivered in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare clients and practitioners.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory technologies and techniques.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual who possesses the following qualifications and skills:

  • Graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Eligible or licensed with NSCMLT and eligible or registered with CSMLS.
  • Strong client focus and ability to build solid healthcare client/practitioner relationships.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated accountability, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Self-directed with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Demonstrated planning, organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-learning and continuous professional development.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices, and organizational health.
  • Good attendance and work record in current and past employment.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours

This is a permanent full-time position with a 75-hour biweekly schedule. Shifts may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel to various sites may be required.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $30.83 - $37.54. In addition, they may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
