Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Spatial Specialist to join our Geospatial Competency Centre team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing our geospatial data repository, administering geospatial web map services, and maintaining our enterprise geospatial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and design geospatial information systems, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • Provide day-to-day support for geospatial information initiatives, including unit and integration testing, documentation, and installation.
  • Undertake quality reviews for geospatial solutions and information assets, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Participate in design and evaluation sessions for spatial data structures and spatially enabled applications.
  • Assist business units in selecting and implementing geospatial technology and procedures, researching and recommending viable options.
  • Analyze business and IT issues related to geospatial information and technology, providing integration options as needed.
  • Transfer geospatial technology knowledge to groups with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GIS platforms and development environments.
  • Promote geospatial information and technology through presentations and written descriptions.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Considerable experience in planning, executing, and managing geospatial change initiatives in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with geospatial data management and map service management using Esri ArcGIS technology.
  • Experience in managing Windows-based ArcGIS Enterprise servers in a highly available environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to analyze user requirements, recommend solutions, and clearly communicate the means of geospatial technologies.
  • Ability to implement enterprise GIS solutions and integrate Esri technology with City's business systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude to work independently and collaboratively with others in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Knowledge of GIS standards and best practices to ensure data quality and compliance with industry norms.
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest ArcGIS technologies and industry trends.
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
