Job Opportunity

Arcadis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Supervising Bridge Engineer to lead our Bridge team in Canada. Our team specializes in delivering large-scale bridge and structural rehabilitation and design projects nationwide. As a key member of our team, you will leverage your extensive bridge engineering expertise to oversee complex bridge projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate with diverse clients in both the public and private sectors, managing multidisciplinary teams through planning, design, and construction phases. This role offers exciting opportunities to work on some of Canada's most challenging infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Leadership and Project Delivery
    1. Oversee the full lifecycle of bridge projects, ensuring exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
    2. Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative environment and maximizing team potential.
    3. Perform complex engineering calculations, analyses, and designs, adhering to strict quality standards and industry best practices.
    4. Prepare and review detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.
    5. Provide technical expertise during construction, including review of contractor submissions and on-site support.
  2. Project Management and Business Development
    1. Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    2. Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively identifying and addressing client needs.
    3. Lead successful project pursuits, developing winning proposals and assembling high-performing project teams.
    4. Perform financial management and reporting to ensure project profitability.
    5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  3. Bridge Inspection and Assessment
    1. Conduct thorough inspections of existing bridges, identifying deficiencies and recommending appropriate rehabilitation or replacement strategies.
    2. Lead inspection teams, including coordination of specialized sub-consultants and development of detailed inspection reports.
    3. Perform life cycle cost analyses to support informed decision-making.
  4. Quality Assurance and Compliance
    1. Ensure adherence to all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
    2. Implement robust quality control processes to minimize errors and defects.
    3. Provide technical guidance to design and drafting teams.
Requirements
  1. Post-graduate degree in Structural Engineering with a focus on bridge engineering from an accredited university.
  2. Minimum 20 years of progressive bridge engineering experience encompassing inspection, analysis, load-rating, design, and construction. Seismic analysis and design experience is a strong asset.
  3. Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  4. Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia.
  5. In-depth knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards, including CSA S6 and familiarity with AT, ON MOT, and BC MOTI standards.
  6. Proficiency in 3D modeling and analysis software, such as CSI Bridge or MIDAS Civil.
  7. Strong technical report writing, problem-solving, and communication skills.
