About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist - Data and Business Analytics to join our Deputy Chief Risk Office's Analytics team at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for applying advanced analytical skills and knowledge of Canada's financial and mortgage sectors to analytics activities initiatives at CMHC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze business data to identify, assess, and report on potential business risks.
  • Analyze financial data and market trends to identify potential risks, including credit, market, and liquidity risk.
  • Create and maintain risk dashboards to provide real-time insights to senior management.
  • Prepare and present detailed risk reports to senior management, providing clear and concise recommendations for action.
  • Lead data analytics projects from ideation to implementation, including project planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and opportunities that can be solved with data analytics.
  • Share business knowledge and provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as finance, mathematics, economics, statistics or computer science.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in business risk analytics, financial risk analytics, data science (e.g., machine learning) or related field.
  • Strong command in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL and experience using tools/packages for visualization such as Power BI, R Shiny, Python Dash.
  • Experience working with big data ecosystems such as Spark, HDFS, and familiarity with cloud services.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical finance and risk management.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing, presentation and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A professional designation (Chartered Financial Analyst, Professional Risk Manager, Financial Risk Manager, Certificate in Quantitative Finance).
