Job Summary
The City of Ottawa's Recreation and Cultural Services department is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing nursing care to participants in our Inclusive Recreation programs and regular recreation programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to participants in Inclusive Recreation programs and regular recreation programs
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of participants
- Collaborate with recreation staff to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for participants
- Provide education and support to participants and their families on health and wellness topics
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in nursing and recreation
Requirements
- Completion of a 4-year B.Sc.N. degree or 2-3 year RN diploma or RPN diploma and proof of current license
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in Special Needs/Pediatric/Rehab/Community with current technical/practical nursing skills
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
- Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of health and wellness programs and services
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
