Recreation Therapy Professional

We are seeking a skilled Recreation Therapy Worker to join our interdisciplinary team at Ponderosa in Kamloops, BC. As a key member of our Recreation Therapy Department, you will be responsible for implementing our established Recreation Therapy Program.
About the RoleAs a Recreation Therapy Worker, you will design and deliver individual or group leisure/recreation therapy programs, including arts, socio-cultural events, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, and exercises. You will also set up and organize furnishings and equipment for programs and special events, porter residents to programs, teach techniques of related activities, and oversee resident participation.
In this role, you will also conduct resident programs outside of the facility, ensuring residents have appropriate clothing and necessary funds for outings. You will collaborate with nursing staff, supervisors, and therapists to confirm program details and report any issues or changes.
Position DetailsThis relief part-time (0.63 FTE) position offers rotating day shifts, providing flexibility and work-life balance. Employees in this role are eligible to apply for internal postings for permanent part-time or full-time positions, with many career paths at Interior Health starting from relief positions and evolving into regular employment opportunities.
