Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operator to join our team at Veolia. As a key member of our organic processing facility, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant, including monitoring and controlling equipment, managing wastewater treatment processes, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control electromechanical equipment, including pumps, presses, and valves
  • Operate SCADA systems to manage plant operations
  • Assist with the changeout of trucks and ensure safe entry and exit of the plant
  • Monitor operational processes and report to team lead
  • Train operators in plant standard operating procedures and safety practices
  • Monitor flow meters, gauges, and pressures to ensure optimal plant performance
  • Record operating conditions, observations, and data in a shift log
  • Diagnose and correct basic operational problems and report malfunctions to supervisor
  • Perform field tests to adjust chemical dosages and unit processes
  • Monitor and maintain process chemical supplies
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, including routine preventive maintenance and lubrication
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices and adherence to safety and environmental policies
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent with effective communication skills
  • Over five years of experience in a related position and environment, with knowledge of water/wastewater treatment methods and practices
  • Understanding of processes, including digesters, wastewater treatment, water quality assurance, maintenance strategy, and laboratory procedures
  • Effective skills in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and team building
  • Ingenuity and initiative to coordinate problem resolution and execute schedule requirements
  • General knowledge of budget preparation and cost control
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate personnel
  • Ability to prepare accurate, timely, and effective written communications and reports
  • Proficiency in using computer systems, including Email, VNA University, SCADA trending, and data retrieval
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls and work extended hours as needed
  • Commitment to compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies and procedures
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks, physically demanding work, and attention to detail
  • Work site environment may be dusty and have recycling odors
  • Own transportation required
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday, with working hours from 6:00 AM– 2:30 PM & 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, 10:00PM - 6:30AM; shift rotation every 2 weeks
  • On-Call: Subject to an On-Call rotation on nights and weekends
