The Provincial Preschool Autism Service (PPAS) is a collaborative partnership between Nova Scotia Health, Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia, and Autism Nova Scotia. The service provides person and family-centred care to preschoolers across Nova Scotia who are suspected of or have a diagnosis of autism.
As a PPAS Clinical Interventionist, you will be part of an interprofessional team with a provincial service delivery mandate. Your role will involve providing services to preschool-age children (ages 0-6) with autism, facilitating goal-setting processes with families, and developing, implementing, and coordinating intervention programs.
You will work within a variety of intervention frameworks, including the EIBI treatment model, caregiver-mediated programs, and focused interventions guided by care pathways. Your expertise will contribute to the development of individualized intervention plans that address the unique needs of each child and their family.
This position requires a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, or Board-certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). You must also have registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia, as well as CPR certification within the last 12 months and certification in First Aid.
A minimum of two years' recent experience working with children with autism and their families is required. You must demonstrate knowledge of best practices in intervention for children with autism, as well as excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills. Interpersonal skills, time management, and organizational abilities are essential for success in this role.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to the development of innovative approaches to supporting children with autism and their families.
