The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team on a casual/on-call basis. As an Education Assistant, you will provide specialized support to students with identified special needs in a school-based setting.

Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support to students with special needs, as directed by the Principal and in collaboration with the school-based team.
- Assist students with daily living skills, academic tasks, and behavioral support, as needed.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to ensure a smooth and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in school-based planning and team meetings to contribute to the development of individualized education plans.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district protocols and policies.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
- College of the Rockies SPEDA course or equivalent college program recognized by other School Districts in the Province, or a minimum of one (1) year college-level training in the Human Services field with a focus on training in behavior management, students with special needs.
- Ability to work effectively with students and adults, and communicate appropriately with other staff members, students, and parents.
- Ability to be part of a collaborative team, maintaining a professional attitude and confidentiality in working relationships with all school personnel, students, parents, and the public.
- Ability to work as part of school-based planning team as required, and be flexible and work with minimal supervision.
- May be required to dispense approved medications as prescribed by the student's doctor, in accordance with Board Policy No. 310.
