About the Role

Aviva Canada is seeking an experienced Actuarial Manager/Specialist to lead our data science team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing technical support and development opportunities to your team based on your actuarial and/or data science expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing technical team focused on data science, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Develop and implement data science products, models, and other data-driven outputs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand key challenges and opportunities for innovation and growth, providing data-driven insights to inform business decisions.
  • Communicate complex data science concepts to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data science, applying this knowledge to drive business growth and improvement.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of experience working in an Actuarial Science or Data Science driven organization or team.
  • Demonstrable experience leading technical professionals in managerial or senior technical roles.
  • Expert proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python, with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
