The PositionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join our team in the Central Region (GTA East & West). As a key member of our Operations Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our portfolio, ensuring seamless execution of building operations programs and initiatives.
Reporting to the National Director, Building Operations, you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, efficiency, and safety across our properties. Your expertise will enable us to deliver exceptional results, drive growth, and solidify our position as a leading player in the Canadian retail real estate market.
Main Responsibilities- Building Operations Leadership: Develop and implement effective work order management processes, lead a team of building operations professionals to create a high-performing team.
- Tenant Relations & Communication: Monitor tenant escalations, propose long-term solutions, and represent FCR senior management on high-profile tenant files and escalations.
- Incident Response & Mitigation: Lead response to incidents, ensuring life, property, and reputation are protected; support restoration efforts and insurance claims.
- Operational Optimization & Compliance: Identify and implement operational efficiencies and best practices to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance portfolio performance; ensure compliance with corporate policies, local laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Capital Project Planning & Execution: Lead planning of Capital Expense plans for all buildings in portfolio; oversee the design, tendering, and award of CapEx projects.
- Vendor Relationships & Procurement: Manage relationships with current vendors, seek out qualified new vendors, and ensure competitive tendering.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Monitor metering systems performance, plan for system improvements, and review facility utility consumption to prevent or correct excessive usage.
- Leadership Background: Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in building operation or facilities management, and capital project management; demonstrated leadership qualities with experience leading operations teams (minimum 5 years).
- Education & Professional Certifications: Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field of study (e.g., electrical/mechanical/building environmental science); professional or technical license (Power Engineering, BES Class I & II, SMT, SMC, SMA, etc.).
- Essential Skills & Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, and ability to plan, organize, and budget effectively; excellent communication and negotiation skills; knowledge of building systems, environmental, health, and safety regulations and procedures.
