Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services department is seeking a skilled Youth and Child Care Worker to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering community recreation programs and services that promote social inclusion and accessibility for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs that cater to the needs of children with attention deficit, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, conduct disorder, and other learning disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that meet the needs of diverse community members.
  • Provide support and guidance to children and youth, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Collaborate with community partners to identify and address the needs of individuals with disabilities and other marginalized groups.
Requirements
  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in Recreation, Child Care/Youth Worker, Kinesiology, or Physical Education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with multi-cultural youth aged 12 and up.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates.
  • Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate.
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of legislation protecting the rights of special needs clients and populations.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of City of Ottawa and Parks & Recreation Branch policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
