About the OpportunityNova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a 1.0 FTE physician to join our Mental Health and Addiction Program at the North Sydney Recovery Support Centre.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in addiction medicine and be able to work collaboratively with our inter-professional clinical team to provide evidence-informed withdrawal management and related mental health and addiction care in an outpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage substance use disorders, including initiation and monitoring of withdrawal management protocols;
- Work with the clinical team to develop and implement care plans, conduct risk assessments, and provide brief interventions related to substance use and concurrent disorders;
- Maintain timely, clear, and accurate health records in adherence to Nova Scotia Health documentation policies.
This full-time position involves working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm at our North Sydney location.
Qualifications and Requirements- Current certification in addiction medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or the International Society of Addiction Medicine (iSAM);
- Active credentials and privileges with Nova Scotia Health; and
- Maintenance of liability insurance through the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
Clinical experience in addiction medicine is an asset, but not a requirement. Training and mentoring opportunities are available for those with limited or no experience in this area.
Compensation and BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary, estimated to be around $250,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
